Disney Day 5 at Magic Kingdom

Finny was feeling a bit like all of us. Wow, this having fun is exhausting. Still, we were up for another day of merriment. Especially since it was the Magic Kingdom on the agenda today.

We perked up and headed into the park. It was a really reasonable start. We entered at around 1pm. Why, you ask, did we allow ourselves such a leisurely pace? Because the park was open until midnight. We figured that 11 hours was plenty of fun.

At the gates. Ready to hit the office.

Second stop of the day was one of my top three rides at Disney. Also, it has been removed from the California park, so it was nice to get back on the People Mover. Such a great ride.

Next stop was the Speedway. Kids drive cars. Somehow in the scramble, I got partnered with Finny. Look at her face in this picture. I was terrified. We have been on some big-time rides this trip, but I have to say...riding in a car driven by Finny is up there in the scary scale. Look at her face again. Feel my pain.

Luckily, she could barely reach the gas pedal. I had some control. I needed it.

Omi got this reasonable companion.

Some shots from our journey through fear:

As soon as we were done on the Speedway, we sat down to eat and talk about our plan for Space Mountain. We had Fast Passes.

It didn't take long before Molly started making the Face.

Lunch was done and the Face was a permanent fixture. On the walk over to Space Mountain, our little daredevil started to complain of a sore tummy. It got more and more sore the closer we got to the front of the line. Finally, two people from the front...dry heaves.

When it was our turn, she panicked and we bailed. We had to take the walk of shame down the emergency exit ramp.

Pretty soon, Molly said her tummy felt better. She put two and two together and realized that it might be nerves.

After some spirited conversation, I told her she'd be doing herself (and me) a favour by trying it out. We did the triumphant walk back up the exit ramp and right on the ride. Once we were boarded and I was holding her hand, Molly told me she was terrified.

She popped off at the end and gave the thumbs up. The tummy ache was mysteriously cured.

When we got off, Finny and Eric didn't believe we'd done it.

Then, when we hit the carousel. everyone was doing the scared face. Here is Eric's. The bobbing horses were FREAKING him OUT.

Not this guy, though.

We discovered that the only thing more fun that hats...is pirate gear. Here we are after Pirates of the Caribbean.

How would you like this girl on your crew, Blackbeard?

Or this sharpshooter?

Or the duelling sisters?

We hit all the rides, big and small. Here we are on Aladdin's magic carpets:

The biggest hit was Splash Mountain. We all went on together and even though there's a scary drop at the end, even Lukey agreed it was the most fun of the day.

I am also a huge fan of the Haunted Mansion. Eric tried to weasel out of it, but I was hellbent (appropriate, right?) on getting it done. Still love it. Here is a picture of the ghost carriage out front.

We had front row seats for the electric parade and we saw the fireworks show.

And after a couple of quick end-of-the-night rides and 3D movies (Big Thunder Mountain and Mickey's PhilharMagic), we were out of there by 11:30.

Tomorrow...day of rest (and shopping at the local outlet mall), then an evening at Downtown Disney.
